The MLA-S (portable RT) is the ideal compact and lightweight antenna, for weekend and holiday activities, operating on KV bands from 60 m to 10 m. On HAM bands: 5,3 MHz; 7 MHz; 10 MHz; 14 MHz; 18 MHz; 21 MHz; 24 MHz; 28 MHz, in addition to the full range of CB channels. A superior function and feature is its remote tuning when using TRX power up to 50 W. The NET weight of the assembled antenna without tripod is only 1.6 kg.
If you think that the MLA-S (portable RT) is expensive, or that you could make such an MLA yourself and better for the catalogue price, we offer a cost-effective solution: Get the MLA-S (portable RT) kit. You will get the most complicated part - the body of the MLA, already fully assembled, the rest you will have the opportunity to finish.
Required parts and components plus simple assembly instructions MLA-S (portable RT) are delivered in a box. Kit MLA-S (portable RT) is delivered without the control box for remote tuning - CB4M MINI. Any DIYer can easily make the control box himself and certainly several times cheaper. However, the CB4M MINI controller can be ordered separately as a paid accessory. Also, the tripod/photostat is not included. For easy placement of the MLA on most commercial photostats, the antenna box is fitted with a flange on its bottom with a standard 1/4" thread. Kit MLA-S (portable RT) is intended exclusively for the category of more skilled amateurs who have basic workshop equipment and adequate knowledge RF technology. Purchasing the kit is certainly not the way to go for operators who prefer amateur radio operation, not bastard. The most complex part of the kit, the MLA cabinet, is supplied fully assembled in the Kit MLA-S (portable RT), as a detailed description of the manufacture/assembly of the MLA cabinet is beyond the scope of a simple manual. Probably the most complicated part of the MLA-S (portable RT) is the remote control, which is logically absent from manually tuned antennas.
The MLA-S (portable RT) kit does not include the driver because it would optically/apparently increase the comparative price of a similar remote when comparing the price to manually tuned MLAs. Making it yourself may end up being a prestigious step for any HAM, who can make such a simple box cheaper. The attached the manual only shows a schematic diagram of the driver's wiring. There are many specific solutions/connections according to the idea diagram. The reassuring information is that the driver can be purchased separately as an accessory. The final form of the assembled antenna is shown in assembly manual. (The procedure of mounting connectors on coaxial cable and other trivialities and mounting procedures might concern some of the considered category of more skilled radio amateurs).
However, experience in selling MLAs has shown that a user manual for the use of magnetic loop antennas, which are fundamentally different from conventional wire antennas, must be an integral part of the MLAs sold. Therefore, in addition to the assembly instructions for the MLA-S KIT (portable RT), a user manual is included in the kit. Further information required for ordering the kit can be found at www.loop2er.cz
Estimated date for delivery of the first kits MLA-S (portable RT) is the end of January 2025.
